This overdrive kit is a complete solution designed to increase the top-end speed of SBU Unimogs (including U1250, U1300, U1700, U2150, U2450 and similar models) by approximately 22%.

With 395/85R20 tyres fitted, the upgrade delivers:

• An increase in top speed from 86 km/h at 2700 RPM
• To 100 km/h at 2350 RPM

This results in improved drivability while reducing engine strain at highway speeds.

Functionality

The unit operates as a splitter gearbox, introducing an intermediate ratio between each standard gear. This effectively doubles the number of usable ratios and provides greater control across varying driving conditions.

Half gears can be pre-selected, allowing for faster and smoother transitions when increasing or decreasing speed. This is particularly beneficial when:

• Towing heavy loads
• Climbing steep inclines
• Driving in variable traffic conditions

Installation Requirements & Disclaimer

Installation must be carried out by a qualified Unimog or heavy diesel mechanic. Due to the complexity of the system and its integration with the drivetrain, correct installation is critical to ensure performance, reliability, and longevity.

For optimal results, professional installation by experienced technicians familiar with Unimog platforms is strongly recommended.

Please note: This high-speed overdrive can only be fitted to Unimogs without a PTO box. If you are removing your PTO box to fit the overdrive then your tailshaft will not need to be modified, however if you don't currently have a PTO then you will need to get your tailshaft shortened when fitting the overdrive.
